The Chelsea 6-inch Ship’s Bell clock with traditional base is a handcrafted timepiece designed to signal the passing of time in a way that mimics the mariner’s 4-hour watch. Eight gentle, rich-sounding bells sound at 4, 8, and 12 o’clock.
One bell marks the first half-hour after the hour, plus an additional bell with each subsequent half-hour. This clock features a classic, hand-silvered dial, 364 precision brass parts – many plated in gold, and 11 jewel movements.
All components are made in Chelsea, Massachusetts. The exceptional accuracy and enduring quality of these clocks have made the Ship Bell the standard by which all Chelsea clocks are compared since the first left the factory in 1900. The Ship Bell is crafted with a lacquered solid forged brass case and a hinged bezel. It is available in 4 1/2-inch, 6-inch, and 8 1/2 –inch dial sizes.
